Dancing with the Devil

Dancing with the Devil (Nikki & Michael, #1)Dancing with the Devil by Keri Arthur

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I got this book from Netgalley.com. As a Keri Arthur fan I was not disappointed. This book had action, adventure, lust, love, and some twist and turns. I found the tension between Nikki and Michael funny. I laughed, cried, and at some spots in the book, I almost threw my Kindle across the room. I was drawn in from the beginning and will be reading the other books in series.

I got this book as an ARC and I loved the book!! What drew me to it was the fact that the main character was a candy maker, and was trying to make the family company survive back in 1910, when woman where just house wives. As a fellow candy maker myself I related to her quiet easily. Lucy is a strong woman, with a strong will. She wants so very badly to save her family business from her rivals, that she will stop at almost nothing to get it. Then there is Charlie who I fell in love with. Coming from the streets of Chicago to St. Louise, made him a bit awkward and standoffish. Not knowing how to act in polite, upper class society Charlie is almost lost. However, after meeting Lucy, and finding out what his father is up to, Charlie becomes in my eyes, one of the hero’s of the book. This book is well written, and flows easily. Once I picked it up I couldn’t put it down. Reading how things were done back then made me feel like I was with Lucy on her adventure.

The Cry For Freedom

The Cry For FreedomThe Cry For Freedom by Jerri Hines

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Yay! I’m finally done with this book *takes a deep breath* It took me a while to get through this book. Not because I was really busy, enough not to read, it is because I chose to read other books instead. At first this book looked promising, with love, revenge, action, and adventure and it was. I was held captive in the very beginning. Then towards the middle it just went blah for me. I don’t know why it just did. So I put it down. The only reason why I finished the book was because I have a hard time just letting a book go unfinished. So I pushed through and finally finished it. I was surprised by the end, the story line got going again and the book ended on a cliff hanger. Will I be reading the next books in the series? No, I will not, if it took me this long to finish the first book I wont’ be picking up the next ones. However, you might like the book and think it’s fantastic! You will only know if you if you read it yourself.
